changes in the oocyte ...
Significant changes in the oocyte occour just prior to ovulation (few hours )..
this means to say its upto 6hours prior .. not 24hours !!
completion of the arrested 1st meiotic division occours with extrusion of 1st polar body and a secondary oocyte is formed..
the secondary oocyte becomes arrested in metaphase of meiosis II and is ovulated .
At fertilization within the ampullary part of uterine tube , the secondary oocyte completes meiosis II to form a mature oocyte and 2nd polar body !
