IN CHRONIC ARSENIC POISONING--

Post by nomoredoc on Thu Nov 29, 2007 11:35 am

Question greatest amount of this element will be found in-------
1)kidney
2)liver
3)keratin tissue
4)bone marrow
5)brain

confused [doubt is probably between (2) ,(3) & (4) No BUT if only one is to mark, then which will be best option????]

Question IF IT WAS 'ACUTE AS-POISONING'--then among the same options which will be the choice????

acc to parikh, pg 9.13 section 9.06-
after ingestion and absorption greatest quantity is found in liver but if the patient survives arsenic starts getting deposited in muscles then bones and finally in chronic poisoning( months) in keratin tissues like hair, nail and skin.. liver shows fatty changes by that time..thats why in chronic cases we send hair samples and not liver biopsy..
so, i think the best ans would be- keratin tissue.
if its acute poisoning then liver.. scratch
